Session Details

There have been massive budget cuts at the state level to Medicaid as well as the passage of federal cuts to the budgets of both Medicaid and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Participants of this breakout session will learn about those cuts from two policy experts and how the reduced funding might impact state and local services, including housing, for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

NCHFA is a large funder of affordable housing across the state. The Supportive Housing Development program is one loan source that supports the independent living of people with mental illness, a history of homelessness or substance use disorder. They are now utilizing this funding to support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live in the community

The NC DHHS has been working to support more adults with I/DD to live in the community of their choice through Inclusion Connects and work groups affiliated with the NC Strategic Housing Plan.

Participants will learn about these initiatives and what the plans are to further increase options for I/DD inclusive housing.
