Our Mission
HOPE NC expands inclusive, affordable housing options for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We partner with families, service providers, and policymakers to create communities where everyone feels supported and connected.
Founded in 2018 by three parents and disability advocates, HOPE NC drives policy change, forges community partnerships, and raises awareness. We work to ensure people of all ages and abilities can choose homes fostering independence, dignity, and belonging.
Current Initiatives
IDEAL Community
IDEAL Communities are accessible, affordable, intergenerational communities of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, older adults, and families that foster social connection and inclusion.
Inclusive Community Concept
We create and support inclusive communities designed to promote safety, independence, and social connection. With the help of a dedicated Community Facilitator, these communities foster relationships, provide ongoing support, and create a culture of mutual care and inclusion.
Current Communities
We currently support three pilot inclusive communities in the Triangle—North Street Community (Durham), Grosvenor Gardens (Raleigh), and Weavers Grove (Chapel Hill). These communities are designed to foster connection, support independence, and create a sense of belonging for residents.
