Belonging for Everyone

Our Impact

There is a lack of affordable housing for people with an Intellectual and/or Developmental Disability (I/DD) and older adults to live in a home of their own in the community with the support they need to succeed.

Approximately 62,800 adults in North Carolina have an intellectual and/or developmental disability and their options of where to live are limited.

HOPE NC is creating integrated affordable housing communities, resulting in a sense of belonging for EVERYONE.

2025 Results in Action

With two inclusive communities in the Triangle and one on the way we are seeing the model in action creating these results in 2025:

Monthly community events to build relationships with people with and without disabilities

People with and without disabilities who attended the monthly events

Community volunteers who donated 10 or more hours to these events

Community Partners working with HOPE NC to create IDEAL Communities

Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities supported by our Community Facilitator as they live in their own home

Events and Activities at North Street and Grosvenor Gardens supported by the Community Facilitators

People with and without disabilities who attended those events/activities

Groups of parents and nonprofits working on housing for I/DD across the state who are part of the NC Inclusive Housing Coalition

In 2024 we worked with a consultant to evaluate the impact of the Community Facilitator in the North Street neighborhood. Check out the exciting results!

Coming SoonGuidebook for Statewide Impact

We are also working to publish this model into a guidebook for others who want to create inclusive communities and partnering with Local Management Entities/Managed Care Organizations statewide to implement the model across the state.
